Jeff is co-founder and managing partner at Basis with expertise in data management, programming, performance evaluation, and finance. He guides the firm’s technological and financial practices, with a focus on continuous review and iterative refinement. Jeff devotes that same passion for innovation, productivity, and analytics to our partnerships, believing our greatest impact is in helping our partners realize their own.
He values and has learned from every partnership. Over the last fifteen years, the Office of Maricopa County School Superintendent (formerly Maricopa County Education Service Agency) has developed, implemented, and evaluated an unprecedented series of solutions to Arizona’s most persistent PK-12 educational challenges, from strategic educator recruitment and retention practices to reimagining teacher roles and accelerating learning for students struggling below grade level. That’s hundreds of thousands of Arizona students, and tens of thousands of Arizona educators. He’s recently had the privilege to support the leadership team at the College Advising Corps as they seek to understand, quantify, and expand their impact in serving high school students in sixteen states. The two partnerships tell a continuing story that starts in early childhood, culminates in post-secondary enrollment and persistence, and dovetails with the need for workforce and community-based development.
Jeff worked previously in venture capital, strategic consulting, buy-side asset management, and investment banking. He earned his BA in politics from Princeton University and an MBA from Vanderbilt’s Owen Graduate School of Management. Jeff also completed his PhD coursework at Vanderbilt’s Peabody School of Education and Human Development.
