The Kauffman Scholars program works to enable low-income students in Kansas City to obtain a postsecondary credential. In the final years of the program’s operation, the Kauffman Foundation asked Basis to conduct a feasibility study of the potential to collect longitudinal data on participants in order to better understand the impact of the program on students’ high school and postsecondary outcomes. To do this, the Basis team interviewed Kauffman staff to discuss their research needs, identifying key outcomes of interest and core topics to be explored through data analysis. We then developed an inventory of available data and methods for analyzing this data to accomplish organizational needs.
