David’s areas of expertise include educator effectiveness, urban school reform, and predictive modeling. His current projects include a study on the validity of early warning systems that identify students at-risk of dropout for the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences as well as work focused on the development of new strategies for maximizing the rigor of students’ course schedules.

David has served as the Director of Business Intelligence for a leading education management organization, a researcher with the Education Commission of the States, and as a classroom teacher in Denver, CO. David holds a Ph.D. in Leadership and Policy Studies from Vanderbilt University, where he was a fellow in the U.S. Department of Education’s Institute of Education Sciences’ predoctoral training program. In addition to his Ph.D., David holds a master’s degree from the University of Colorado and a bachelor’s from Hope College.
